IFPTE Local 4

Local 4, a Local affiliate of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), is the largest labor union at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS) in Kittery, Maine representing nearly 2,000 federal service employees. Since our original charter in 1918 we have continuously and effectively represented PNS labor, defended against attacks on worker rights, and strive to protect and improve working conditions for the benefit of PNS professionals and the overall mission of PNS. We invite you to visit your Union Hall anytime for guidance, help, advice, information, or just to say hello. Your Union Hall, located on the 1st floor of Building M3, is also home for your Union elected officers who are here to serve and represent you.

Governing Documents

IFPTE Local 4 has several policy documents that govern the Local and its members, locally and federally. These documents include the Local's Bylaws and 2 contractual agreements: PNS Collective Bargaining Agreement and the SUBMEPP Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Scholarships

Each year, the Local offers members and/or their children scholarships: 2 merit-based scholarships and 5 general scholarships.

IFPTE worked with Local 4's officers to create a new, informative, smart brochure to give members more information about our Local.  This is also a great tool to use when talking to other PNS employees about our union.
